Physical Therapy


Putnam General Hospital provides quality and professional physical therapy services for patients of all ages in Putnam and surrounding counties. Our therapist and staff have training and experience in the areas of orthopedics, massage therapy, sports injuries, and injured workers as well as treatment of chronic pain, lymphedema therapy, and wound care. Our concern is the welfare of the whole individual with emphasis on pain relief, rehabilitation and active involvement of the patient with home exercise and long term prevention programs.

Our Physical Therapy Program Includes:
  • Evaluation and treatment - If physical therapy is indicated, our staff will work closely with you and your physician to help you recover and get you back in the game as soon as possible.
  • Manual therapy - "Hands on" therapy such as joint and soft tissue mobilizations.
  • Individualized exercise programs - Programs that address posture strength, balance, coordination, or flexibility problems.
  • Body Mechanics instruction - Teaching proper postures for sitting and standing activities.
  • Wii-hab - The use of the Wii by Play Station to help patients work on balance and to use their motor skills.
  • Swing Bed - This program allows patients a longer hospital stay following surgery, assisting the patient in returning to a comfortable routine.

    We work with patients who have experienced work-related injuries, motor vehicle accidents, falls, cumulative trauma, and more. We see problems, including:

  • Post-surgical conditions(shoulders, hips and knees)
  • Back/neck pain
  • Balance problems or unsteadiness
  • Fractures
  • "Itises" (tendinitis, bursitis, arthritis)
  • Lymphedema
  • Overuse injuries
  • Strains and sprains
